DJ Montroni
David “DJ” Montroni is a 3-Time Emmy Award-Winning Specialty Camera Operator with experience in studio, live action and sporting events. He mainly operates specialty cameras for sports, entertainment, politics and news in a live capacity.
DJ has operated on multiple award winning shows including Monday Might Countdown, College Gameday, The View and Big Ten Tailgate. DJ also operates for live events and games including NFL, NBA, CFB and MLB. He has extensive experience using gimbals (Megladon) and Movi for broadcast. DJ is also an RF Video Technician with CP Communications.
DJ has experience in a variety of mediums and advancing technologies, including the first use of virtual graphics on a shallow depth of field camera for an NBA game.
DJ currently freelances across different networks doing a variety of work. Steadicam, Movi, Megladon and jib.
DJ was the sole Steadicam Operator on ABC’s The View, a top-rated daily talk show. At The View, DJ was trusted to shoot elements such as Walk and Talks, teases and bumps with cultural icons including Dolly Parton, Jamie Lee Curtis, Spike Lee, Tyler Perry and more. DJ was also a key camera during musical and other special productions.
Prior to The View, DJ was a Studio Operator for ESPN, operating Jib and Steadicam on productions spanning the network including College GameDay, SportsCenter, Major League Soccer, World Cup Soccer and X Games.
DJ has won awards for his ENG and studio work. He stays up-to-date with current camera and production trends. He studied at Bergen Community College, A.S. Broadcasting and William Paterson University, B.S. Media Production.
DJ is a member of NABET Local 16 and the Steadicam Operators Association.
